Our advanced diode laser technology works effectively on a wider range of skin tones than older lasers, including olive and darker skin tones. However, results are most dramatic on clients with high contrast between hair and skin color. The laser targets melanin (pigment) in the hair follicle, so very light blonde, white, red, or gray hairs—which contain minimal melanin—typically don't respond as well. During your consultation, we'll assess your specific hair color and skin tone combination to provide realistic expectations and recommend the most effective treatment approach for your unique characteristics.

Most clients describe the sensation as a mild snapping feeling like a warm rubber band against the skin, rather than actual pain. Discomfort levels vary by treatment area (sensitive areas like upper lip or bikini can be more uncomfortable than arms or legs), hair thickness (coarser hair may cause more sensation), and individual pain tolerance. We use advanced cooling technology during treatment to minimize discomfort, and many clients find the sensation becomes more tolerable with subsequent sessions as hair becomes finer. For sensitive clients, we can also apply a topical numbing cream 30 minutes before treatment.

Multiple sessions are necessary because hair grows in cycles, and the laser only affects follicles in the active growth phase (anagen). At any given time, only about 20-30% of your hair is in this vulnerable phase. Most clients require 6-8 sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart (face) or 6-8 weeks apart (body) to target all hair follicles as they enter the growth phase. Hormonal areas like chin, underarms, and bikini may require maintenance sessions due to hormonal stimulation of new follicles. Factors affecting your personal treatment plan include hair density, hormonal influence, genetic factors, and previous hair removal methods.

Before treatment: Shave the area 12-24 hours prior (no waxing, plucking, or bleaching for 4 weeks before); avoid sun exposure 2 days before and after the laser treatment.
